Dads and Dental Work: A Winning Combination

Dads and Dental Work: A Winning Combination

fathers dayJune is about sunshine, graduations and – certainly not least – Dad! This month, we recognize those dads who work hard to take of the family – and keep those kiddos in good health! What better way to honor dad than with this heartwarming story about one in Kansas who got an unexpected surprise:

Brian Maixner was a Wichita, Kansas, waiter who was in dire need of dental work. In fact, Maixner was missing several teeth due to tooth decay. While unhappy about his smile, Maixner unfortunately was unable to afford proper dental care. As a single father, money was tight – and it went to taking care of his little family. Spending thousands of dollars on restorative dental work was out of the question.

Or was it? Maixner’s luck changed one day earlier this year, when a customer named Fred Boettcher made a more-than generous gesture. Touched by Maixner’s happy, upbeat demeanor, Boettcher asked the owner of the diner if he could leave the waiter a tip – a pretty healthy one, at that. Boettcher wanted to pay for Maixner’s badly needed dental work – which would easily equate to thousands of dollars.

In a March interview, Boettcher told KWCH12 TV:

“”I took one look at this young man and knew he was something special. He carried himself with such kindness and confidence with a mouth that looked painful. I was struck by that.”

Maixner unveiled his new smile on social media in March, much to the delight of his friends and customers. Thanks to one person’s incredible generosity, this lucky dad is getting the dental care he’s always wanted.
